SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Family & Juvenile Court Supervisor is responsible for providing a full range of administrative and technical support to a department including supervising the office support staff, monitoring the department budget, and managing special projects or analytical studies, as needed. Implements and manages complex programs for Case Tracking Systems, Differential Case Management, and Unified Family Court cases.
In addition, this position also coordinates and schedules criminal, civil, family law and juvenile cases after initial filing through trial to case completion and maintains the master calendar. Reassigns cases in event of recusals, affidavits of prejudice and other conflicts of any nature in all case types; plans, organizes and supervises the work of office support staff or other classifications as assigned. Recommends selection of staff, trains subordinates, evaluates performance, and recommends disciplinary action. Maintains personnel files and related records; establishes staff performance and expectations. Issues instructions and reviews work for content, accuracy, neatness, and conformance to procedures and policies. Has a working knowledge of the different positions supervised to provide coverage during leaves of absence.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Associated Arts degree in paralegal studies, or other closely related field and six years of progressively responsible clerical/secretarial experience; four years of which must have been in legal or court environment.
 Any demonstrated combination of education and/or experience which provides the applicant with the following attributes may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
 Ability to independently conduct administrative projects and respond to administrative and operational problems.
 Ability to interpret policy and procedures and to analyze complex issues.
 Ability to plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff.
 Knowledge of computer concepts, including data base management.
 One year of experience in a lead or supervisory role and Two years of experience managing multiple/major projects.
 Ability to utilize a personal computer and related software packages to perform the essential functions of the job.
 Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with superiors, subordinates, other organizations, attorneys, and the public.

DESIRED SKILLS:
 Licensed as Notary Public.
 Demonstrated background in legal terminology, trial calendar terminology and judicial procedures.
 Strong computer operating skills with experience and knowledge in computer equipment and database programs.
 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and diverse groups, and to develop a consensus on specific issues.
 Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
 Knowledge of organization and operation of the Washington State Court System; procedures and practices within courts of general jurisdiction.
 Ability to independently plan and coordinate numerous program activities and special projects.
