Thurston County Superior Court is accepting applications for part time Commissioner on the Unlawful Detainer, Probate and Guardianship Calendars. The part time Commissioners would be appointed to the above calendars and serve at the pleasure of the Board of Judges. A part time Commissioner is an at-will appointee and any service for which the appointee may be called is at the sole discretion of the Court. The Court is seeking a part time Commissioner who is qualified and available to hear the Unlawful Detainer and Probate and Guardianship calendars on Fridays.
To be considered for this position the applicant shall complete the attached application and a cover letter. In addition, the application may be obtained from Superior Court Administration, 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Building 2, Olympia, Washington, or on-line at https://www.thurstoncountywa.gov/sc
The following are the minimum qualifications to be considered for placement:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant subject area.
2. Must be an attorney and member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
3. Shall be subject to a background check.
a. Any person having a felony conviction, misdemeanor conviction involving a domestic violence or sex offense, a misdemeanor conviction within 3 years of the application and/or any person actively on probation shall be deemed ineligible to serve as a commissioner.
b. All charges, pending or resolved, must be disclosed, and any appointment would be discretionary.
c. Any person who has been subject to a court restraining order (including domestic violence order for protection, anti-harassment order or other no contact orders, but not including an order issued ex parte) must disclose this information to the Court in the application. Any appointment would be discretionary.
d. Any person wishing to serve, who has been disciplined by any state bar association or Judicial Conduct Commission must disclose this information in the application. Any appointment would be discretionary.
