UNIFORM GUARDIANSHIP, CONSERVATORSHIP, AND OTHER PROTECTIVE ARRANGEMENTS ACT
This presentation is intended as a broad overview of the Uniform Guardianship, Conservatorship, and Other Protective Arrangements Act (UGA). UGA will replace and repeal all existing guardianship law in Washington State, currently codified at RCW 11.88 and 11.92. This presentation includes changes from the “trailer bill,” to the UGA, which was passed during the 2019-2020 legislative session. As to the provisions concerning adults, the law will become effective on January 1, 2022.

Sage M. Graves is an associate attorney with Hickman Menashe, P.S. in Lynnwood, Washington. At Hickman Menashe, Ms. Graves practices elder law, including estate planning, special needs trusts, probate administration, Medicaid Long-Term Care planning, and guardianship. She also serves as a Title 11 Guardian ad Litem in Snohomish County. Ms. Graves is the Legislative Co-Chair to the Washington State Bar Association Elder Law Executive Committee and is a member of the King and Snohomish County Bar Associations.
Ms. Graves received her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2016 and a BA in Sociology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo in 2010.
