The Thurston County Bar Association presents the February Member Luncheon and CLE on February 16, 2018.
“ Report from the Western District of Washington and a Summary Review of the History of American Jurisprudence Defining and Implementing the System of Checks and Balances ” Presented by United States District Court Judge Benjamin H. Settle
The presentation will feature two topical areas. The first will be providing the audience with a report and update on the Western District of Washington and its current composition, state of transition, and recently implemented policies. The second area will be to provide a discussion of the creation and evolution of the doctrine of checks and balances that the Framers incorporated in the Constitution and the federal judiciary’s role in giving it substance and vitality.
